This was the 7th cruise for my husband and me.  We had previously sailed on the Conquest in October 2006.  We chose this cruise because we had never been to the Bahamas.  We have also cruised with Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Celebrity.  We were a party of eight including our daughter, son-in-law, his parents, and our 10-year old grandson & 4-year-old granddaughter.

The other four adults had cruised only one time previously on a much smaller Carnival ship.  They were a little apprehensive about cruising again because they had not had a good experience the first time.  I convinced them that the Conquest would be much different.  My daughter gets serious motion sickness and is claustrophobic.  She was never bothered with either one for the entire week.   We had never experienced such calm seas.  The ocean was as smooth as glass.   With the exception of a brief shower in Nassau, the weather was perfect.  The Carnival Conquest is huge and a beautiful vessel.  The 10-story Atrium is stunning with its glass elevators and sprawling staircases.  Surrounding the Atrium is the shopping mall, photo gallery, casino, etc.  I did use the ship's laundry on this cruise; therefore, I did not need to pack so many clothes.

PRE-CRUISE:  We drove down from the Dallas area and stayed two nights at the Holiday Inn Resort-Seawall Blvd. in Galveston.  It is next door to the San Luis Resort and directly across from the beach.  We parked our two vehicles there for free the entire week.  Their shuttle bus took us to the ship terminal and picked us up at the end of our cruise.  The rooms had been remodeled and were very comfortable with great views overlooking the pool and ocean.
