We chose this cruise to escape from the Northeast winter for a while. Royal princess did not disappoint. We had read rumblings from other Princess cruisers avout the shortcomongs of the new Royal class, but we loved tge ship. Yes, the balconies are smaller, but not enough to mske much of a difference,. The ship is beautiful, & the extra large piazza is the hub of tge ship. Activities & entertainment were plentiful. We found the service excellent, provided by a crew that seemed happy to be aboard. Our room was kept spotless by one of the best attendants we've had in over 30 sailings.
Food was generally good to very good. We ate at Crown Grill & found the food very good, but not exceptional, & thought that the ambiance could be better.
Be sure to try Alfredo's. Tgey serve excellent pizza & is a good plce to eat lunch on embarkation day in order to avoid tge Horizon stampede! Speaking of Horizon, Royal's is a much better layout than the older Princess ships, which we have found cramped.
Adequate size with plenty of storage, but the shower is tiny with a shower curtsin instead of a shower door
