The embarkation & disembarkation was the best & smoothest I have ever seen. But As a seasoned cruiser I will tell you that...This ship is the oldest & smallest & the most dated in the RCL fleet. Their is very limited amount of things that you can do on the ship due to it's age & size. However the crew goes way above & beyond to try to compensate for this; which is a big plus. Although RCL did an update on this ship they didn't go quite far enough with the reconditioning of it & it shows. We did the Atlantis water park & all the bathrooms & 1/2 the rides were closed due to an water/ sewer main issues & none of the staff was informed about the bathrooms being closed until several hours later & then only some of the bathrooms were later opened; which when traveling with kids is a nightmare to say the least. Having been to Atlantis several times before it has gone down hill over the years & it shows. if you have never been there before you will love it unless you need use the bathroom. The Empress ship it's self is a great ship for a weekend get away but not much else.Don't expect much with it and you will not be disappointed.
This inside cabin is so small that you have to go outside just to change your mind. 2 people cant be doing something at the same time in this cabin.it's just not physically possible unless someone stays in the bathroom while trying to pack or whatever. My room steward HENRY went way above & beyond to try to compensate for the ships short falls & I am extremely grateful for is service. Although I'm not a big believer in online reviews they were fairly accurate on this ship. That being said... there was a constant oder of sewer that was present in our room despite all the efforts by the staff to try to eliminate or minimize it. other than a new flat screen TV everything else in the room was very dated.
it was like any other party town
