We are two couples who cruise together once a year. We always have fun and have cruised several different lines. We've been on the NCL Sun and love that ship, but thought we might like to try one of NCLs newer, larger ships. So we booked two balcony cabins on a Caribbean cruise. This particular cruise went to Harvest Caye, which we were excited to see.
Embarkation was fine; about the same as other cruises we have been on. Debarkation was a zoo. It was very slow and disorganized. Plenty of line jumpers in the long lines snaking around the ship, but the staff did little to prevent it.
We were told this cruise had approx. 4500 people on a ship that holds under 4000 passengers double occupancy. Which meant LOTS of kids. We did not have kids with us, but the ropes course and the kids water play area looked great. We tried out the water slides, and they were great too. I like kids, and was glad to see them having fun. But - I don't know if it was just our bad luck on this cruise or what, but many parents onboard ignored their kids, no matter what they were doing. They were in the restaurants running around and climbing under tables, running up and down halls screaming (and unsupervised).
The cabin was ok, with adequate storage and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was great, with a plenty of room and a large shower with a glass door. The steward was fair to poor, but that didn't really bother us. The balcony was tiny (40 inches deep from the door to the railing, including the depressed gutter area inside the railing) and it was a real deal breaker for us - we would not go on this ship again.
