My husband and I have been on five cruises together and each have been on a few before we met. Our last three cruises were all on Royal Caribbean ships with the last two being on the Oasis and Allure. Though we love the Royal Caribbean ships and some of their shows, we found the nightlife options lacking for people in our age group (low-mid forties). This time we went in search for a ship that had entertainment options that would appeal to us, and in that we very much succeeded in booking the Carnival Magic.
After we booked this cruise, we ended up having two other couples, also in their 40s, join us.
We all loved most things about this cruise. Our room was a balcony room mid-ship, cabin 8291. It was pretty roomy for a cruise stateroom. I was very happy with the layout of the room and the size of the balcony. It's also a great central location to use as a starting point for getting around the ship.
Loved the cabin. It seemed spacious for a cruise ship cabin. It had a great balcony. The only negative was that there was no way to open the divider between our balcony and our friend's balcony. Also our cabin attendant was good but not as perfect as we're used to.
The only issue with leaving from Port Canaveral is it's distance from the airport, so transportation costs a bit more.
We loved the private beach. There were many things you could do there but we had a perfect day just renting a float for the water...floating and enjoying the calm water and beautiful weather. This is an absolutely gorgeous location. Being a private beach, I only wish that Carnival included lunch and that our drink cards worked there like they do at Royal Caribbean private locations.
We were only there until 1:30 so there wasn't a lot of time. The port itself is shopping and restaurants as you come to expect at most ports. The short time there and not much to do but shop makes this a stop I didn't love. It was also SUPER crowded to the point it was annoying because there were three large ships there at once and a pretty small area where they shoved as many shops and restaurants as possible in a small space. My friends who like shopping much more than I do liked it more than I did. It was everybody's least favorite stop, for sure, though.
