We just got back on July 17th from the Inside Passage of Alaska with our family which included 2 daughters, ages 22 and 20.  It was our first cruise - not quite sure what to expect from the experience but the sights were spectacular.  We were fortunate to have the absolute best weather and the only time we had overcast skies were the days we were at open sea.  We loved Seattle and Pike Market Place-nice place to begin our vacation.  We stayed at the Marriott at Pier 66 - had them arrange a town car to pick us up at airport which only cost $40 if you paid in cash.  We were told we could board at 1pm - didn't realize that you could actually board at 11.  Having opted for Concierge Class, our line to check in was much much smaller.  This alone was worth the extra cost.  It probably took us about 10 minutes to check in and arrive on ship.  Our luggage arrived a few hours later.  Our room was on the starboard side, which I highly recommend for this cruise.  While both sides of the ship had great views, our side had them more often.  I can't imagine a room without a balcony - the fresh air alone is worth it.  HINT WHEN APPROACHING HUBBARD GLACIER:  Everyone begins vying for a good viewing spot which is generally as far forward as you can get.  I don't know if this is common - we had such terrific weather - but they opened the heliopad for viewing as we approached the glacier.  It was the best view on the entire boat.  Because it was 5 people deep along the rails, get there early to get the best spot.  The railings are a little shaky but if they open it, you really must get there! There was a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for us in Concierge Class.  Never had an issue with stateroom being cleaned but the "afternoon snacks" delivered to room each day were pitiful canapes.  Do yourself a favor and request cookies/cheese and crackers or something else early in the week. The sights on this cruise were absolutely fabulous, spectacular, awesome.  It was hard to do anything other than look at the scenery.  We passed on mostly everything because of this and never regretted our choice!  The natural unspoiled beauty of Alaska is worth the trip.  What a memorable family vacation we had.  Tons and tons of pictures; none of which can probably depict just how gorgeous it is.  We were so lucky to have the great weather we did.Our family was not into the typical cruising activities, games, entertainment, getting to know captain, etc. so there isn't much for us to report on that aspect.  We did enjoy the acapella group but this was their last trip.  The fitness center was great when not crowded.  Get there by 7am or wait until 5pm.  Room got very hot when crowded.  Breakfast and lunch at the buffet was very crowded.  Pancakes and waffles for breakfast and Panini's for lunch toward back of ship were excellent.  All salad dressings taste the same, somehow.  We didn't ever try the breakfast or lunch in the sit down area (ala carte as opposed to buffet) for some reason but probably should have.  We ate dinner at 8:30 and actually preferred this since it gave us more  time to watch the beauty go by.  Did I say how spectacular the views were?!!!  It doesn't get dark until 10:30 or so.  I found I would wake  at 4:15, check the view on the  balcony and if warranted, get dressed, grab my camera and go deckside for more pictures.  Sunrise over the snow-capped mountains was breathtaking.Evening food was fair - what can one expect when 1000 people are being fed at once.  The waitstaff was phenomenal.  They will make or break your trip.  We found the restaurant at the AquaSpa a nice relief from the masses and it was a healthy choice.  Another great spot to get  away from the crowds was in the Constellation Room - the club located on Deck 11 at the front of the ship.   I think it opened around 1pm or so but unless you were there at 10pm, there would be only 5-20 people in there at a time.  We would take our books, get a front row seat and watch the world go by!  Wish we found it earlier in the week.  Victoria was ok but I would have preferred a different port or the ability to have more time in Ketchikan or Juneau.  It seems a waste.  We did an on-off bus to see the city and suburb sights and that was plenty.  Everyone goes to the Gardens which are really far away.  If you have the early dinner, you won't make it back in time so get the dinner time changed if you do the garden tour.  We found the boat to be exceptionally clean in all the public areas.  Our shower had a few nicks in it and our sheer curtain to the balcony had grease on the bottom of it which I didn't notice til the last day.  Staff was professional, friendly. People didn't all abide by dress codes in dining room at night.  Saw lots of jeans, t-shirts, flipflops.  We  never had problems  with disembarkation delays.  When arriving back in Seattle, I hadn't realized we could take our own luggage out with us - I thought everyone had to put out the night before.  You do have this option and if you can take your own luggage, I would.  The mass of luggage once you get off the ship is unorganized chaos.  They give you a colored numeric tag but it is only a vague indication of where your luggage may be.  I don't think we will be cruising in the near  future but I would recommend Celebrity Inifinity Inside Passage to Alaska.  The waters were always calm, the sights never ending.  Really a great experience and easy to travel with older kids.

Cabin Review

Cabin cc

I loved our cabin location on Deck 9 (9050) which was about 12 doors from the elevators and stairs.  (Girls had an inside stateroom)  We were able to walk one floor up to fitness center, pool spa area, and 2 floors to outside decks and Constellation Lounge.  In the morning, we could grab a cup of coffee at the AquaSpa restaurant without having to go all the way to the buffet.  I would not want to be toward the back of the ship where all the dining rooms were.  The downside of our room was that being one floor below the therapy pool, we did on occasion, hear people moving lounge chairs around.  We also had the overhang over our balcony which, while it didn't obstruct our view, it impaired it slightly.  Again, I highly recommend starboard side of ship for this cruise.
