Jan 8th voyage, Carnival Dream, Cabin 7219
We chose to take the Carnival Dream out of NOLA because we'd been in all the other 50 states but had never been to Louisiana. Unfortunately, it was so cold (read: 40 freaking degrees) when we reached New Orleans, we still don't feel we've seen the city.
The Dream is the largest ship we've ever cruised on before, but it was fairly easy to get around. It was clean and well-appointed. Our cabin stewards and dining room servers were terrific. I accomplished my goal of sliding down the giant Twister water slide! As always, there were more activities than we had time to participate in. Especially since we splurged with week long passes to the Thermal Suite at the spa. Those heated stone lounges called to us with regularity!
We really liked that the cabin was configured so thatt we could watch the waves from bed. We wished there were more electrical outlets, specifically one in the bathroom and one nearer the bed, since I use a bipap machine at night. We had a regular spiderweb of cords running across the room each night.
It was too cold for us to explore the city, unfortunately. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in the French Quarter & left our van in the parking garage for the duration of our cruise. $16.00 Taxi ride to the port.
