First warning, we are Platinum and I had a knee scooter due to an ankle injury. The priority embarkation is a free for all. I was literally trampled as they don't actually allow Platinum and Diamond guests to board first. Once we were finally allowed to start boarding they opened the gate and everyone rushed in line. Those who were had suites, were platinum or diamond were not given priority boarding as they used to, instead they allowed multiple lines to rush in and those with disabilities were pushed and shoved as I can confirm because it happened to me. They need to control the boarding better in the terminal.

The staff on the ship were very nice and helpful. No complaints about the staff at all. The ship is old and is a downgrade compared to the Fascination. The Elation has not been updated so it is definitely showing its age. The guests we met in the parking lot as we were preparing to board warned us there would be a delay due to clean up of vomit. They warned us the ship rocked violently and everyone was sick. Unfortunately we experienced the same thing. Our first night at dinner was so rough the dishes, glasses and wine bottles fell off tables multiple times. This ship seemed to have great difficulty maintaining her balance. We felt bad for the other guests, especially the elderly who had difficulty walking and I can't imagine how difficult it would have been to shower for them with the rocking and rolling of the ship. Emesis bags were posted throughout the ship and at all staircases.

We were in cabin U88 (Grand suite) and spent a great deal of time on our balcony which I really enjoy especially at night. The food was average in the dining room. Our cabin steward, Mon, was remarkable! We never had to ask for anything and our cabin was always perfect!! The ship needs to be dry docked and updated or replaced with a newer ship. There are no balcony rooms so your only choice is a suite unless you choose interior or ocean view. We noticed lots of rust throughout the ship.

Grand Suite

Cabin GS

The cabin was very clean and everything was in order. Mon, our stateroom steward took great care of us and we never had to ask for anything. He and his team are amazing! We loved the large balcony and enjoyed the extra space. We usually just book a regular balcony room but we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and booked a jr suite and then were upgraded to a grand suite for a very small fee. It was well worth it!

Port Reviews

Jacksonville

Jacksonville is a very nice place to visit. We spent a few extra days before our ship sailed and just relaxed. We enjoyed our stay and the restaurant choices are plentiful !! The cruise terminal for Carnival however is not very organized and was chaotic to say the least. Boarding was a free for all and I was on a knee scooter due to an ankle injury and was trampled. Diamond and Platinum status apparently means nothing at this terminal when the boarding begins. They need to be more diligent about the boarding process.

Freeport

A very dirty area with lots of containers and trash where the ship docks. I was not impressed at all and stayed on board the ship.

Half Moon Cay

Love Love Love Half Moon Cay !! Paradise !!

Nassau

Nice port, lots to see and do. Shopping, bars, and lots of activities such as beaches, a casino at Atlantis, and scenic places to visit.
