We chose Royal carribean over star cruise due to its ship being newer with more amenities onboard like ice skating , dreamworks parade , activities for all age groups , royal promenade etc.It was a big family get together for us as we were celebrating our parents 50th marraige anniversary. We were all too excited to board the ship but our excitement was short lived due to a long slow moving waiting line for immigration.since we were all travelling in suite category hence we were given a time between 11.,30-3.30 to reach the checkin counter. we reached at 1p.m.,the check in took around 15 minutes but there were only 5 immigration counters for " all passports" and we took one and a half hour to reach the immigration counter and board the ship . this experience was pathetic as we were all drained out and hungry . it was already 4 pm and the only place one gets anything to eat at that time on ship is cafe promenade , which also closes from 4.30-5.15 when they have the dreamworks parade . the royal promenade is a very small area where the dreamworks parade happen and the kids being short hardly get to see it properly if one has not lined up in front beforehand.we climbed on chairs to see it somehow. the windjammer where one gets unlimited food with good variety food is very well managed and fast but to get a seat there again is a challenge and i must mention that though they do try to put in some vegetarian food but keeping in mind that 850 indians were onboard the ship with total 3500 passengers hence they should have a good indian chef with more authentic indian food.nevertheless they did make delicious "gajar ka halwa" it was my sons bday and the guest service lady got a cake delivered to our room at 12.00 pm midnight on a short notice of 30 minutes, which is appreciable. The basket ball court, table tennis was all the time occupied and one needs to wait atleast 30 minutes for their turn. ice skating and rock climbing were still manageable if you reach early as later the line starts to increase again. so the bottomline is that if one wants to relax in a ship like this just do your own thing -laze on the decks or pools or your own balcony. the ice skating show is beautiful and the other shows are also quite enjoyable.the activity manager who was making people play games on poolside and bingo etc was very good and loaded with a lot of humour. we were expecting a karaoke room but there was none except for a family karaoke program in the evening. the ships stop at kuala lumpur is too short to enjoy the place . phuket is a full day stop hence one can spend more time at ease there. in phuket the best if to just go to" wat chalong" temple and the cashew factory and thereafter chill on the beach as there is nothing much to see in the city except if one wants a good massage or do some local shopping. we were on deck 10 in the 4 junior suites and 1 grand suite which were all quite spacious with all amenities except drinking water . grand suite also comes with toiletries of premium range and a big bathroom, a bar counter and a big balcony with sunbeds.the housekeeping was excellent but there were no butler services as promised while booking for grand suite.however , mu nephew had by mistake left his ipad in the suite locker at disembarkation and even after repeated complaints to the royal carribean authorities the same could not be found till late evening though we went twice to the cruise centre.next day they were leaving early morning to melbourne hence the ship authorities were told to courier it if found., but its quite strange that an ipad kept in locker is not found by the lost and found deptt. overall, its a good experience but the expectation was much more from royal carribean .
