This is our 3rd time on the Dawn. it is obvious that some areas have been refurbished but the ship is still not completely modern. We do like it, however.
Embarkation was very quick this time, however, disembarkation for some reason was over an hour once we got off the ship-not NCL fault I don't think. Perhaps customs.
My husband and I enjoy the dining options on NCL. The main dining room is our preference-people dress up a little more than other complimentary dining. We did eat in the Bamboo and were a little disappointed with the food. Traveling with a friend that has shellfish allergies and most of their dishes are prepared with ostyer sauce.
We enjoy the balcony room. It was clean, shower is large but stool area is tiny. Glad they had a grab bar to help get up when you have trouble with knees. The bed was adequate-not a plush mattress but OK. We had a small sofa and 2 small round stools and a small table. The balcony is small and has 2 chairs-not lounge-and a very small table.
A friend of ours was in room 9221 - inside room. It was VERY small and had no chair at all. They will not stay in that type of room again. Too small and no place to sit except on the bed. They cruise a lot and said it was the worst room they have ever had.
Just walked around the area. We are not shoppers but lots of places to shop and get food & drinks.
Very pretty but nothing to do if you don't like to be on the beach or in the water. The butterfly enclosure was small but beautiful butterflies. Spent most of the day on the ship.
There were 3 ships in port so was very crowded. We took a shuttle $3. Each to Mauhaul and sat on the beach under trees and enjoyed the view. We have done this before and enjoyed it. Had to take a taxi back for $2 each. VERY small car, 3 in the back seat & I was in the middle and had to sit sideways-none of us are big people either.
Hardly anything at the pier. We with friends, took a van around the island for $15. Each. Nice way to spend 2 hours.
We parked in the Fulton Place Parking on recommendation of a friend. Cheaper than terminal lot but more of a hassle getting back to the car after the cruise.
