We began our 10 day Rhine cruise in Switzerland and ended with 2 extra days in Amsterdam. If you want to see the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam, as we did, get your tickets, which are available 30 days before your visit, on their website--it's easily done. The Viking website answers any questions you could possibly have, from how to dress, protocols for tipping, what to expect each day, including the level of walking challenge. The staff and tour guides were exceptional. The concierge went to a local pharmacy for me while I toured a medieval town when I had a minor medical emergency. Our Welsh storytelling guide regaled us with local lore through the Black Forest, while our native Cologne guide led us across scary intersections with his witty:"Forward! And show no fear!"
The meals were to-die-for--always a choice to accommodate special needs. Alas, we had to choose between entries when we would have preferred everything on the menu. The waitstaff vied with one another to surprise us by remembering our preferences. Our Program Director, Elizabeth, covered every emergency--even the couple who missed an evening departure and had to be bussed to the next landing site. Nights were filled with music, lectures, games and dancing. We shared meals with interesting world travelers and learned which cruise we should plan for the future. The cabins were comfortable--the views entertaining. I have encouraged everyone I have talked to since returning, to visit the Viking website and see for themselves.
Comfortable room, spic-and-span bathroom, great views from the large windows.
