These comments are provided from the perspective of a mid-60’s retired couple who have ocean cruised on 10 previous occasions mainly on Princess and Celebrity.

The primary objective was to sail through the Suez Channel and have the opportunity to experience the Middle East countries. We chose NCL because of itinerary and price.

I found the website easy to use; as we like to pre-register, confirm ship/cabin layout, pre-book our dining, wine and excursions. Having the “shopping cart” time out after 15 minutes was annoying and allowed limited review of the various excursions offered. Why are the “wine packages” not available on the internet?

Cabin BX

We found our BX category cabin (balcony) to be smaller than most. The cabin space was further exacerbated by a king size bed; a queen would be preferable for us. The temperature was easily controlled in cabin, but there was noticeable variance at any temperature setting. There was sufficient storage space for our 3 week trip. The shower had ample space, with a wonderful shower head and controls that operated magnificently. The lavatory area was minuscule, with an inadequate ventilation system. The cabin and linens were always clean and fresh smelling. The Plexiglas balcony parathions needed cleaning. The room was well stocked. The bed comfortably firm. A temporary toiletry bag was offered when one of our luggage pieces had a late arrival. The cabin steward, Kiran Rane, was superb – unlikely due to the extra $2.00 per day in tips we provided. He would never take the money unless one left him a specific note to do so! His friendly demeanor, towel art, clean linens, vacuumed floor and never empty ice bucket was much appreciated.
