This was something like our 55th cruise and we are a young 70+ couple. We had never been on a MSC cruise and thought this would be worth a try. We sandwiched the cruise between two weeks in Florida. We chose the Yacht Club. It is worth it for checking in and leaving the ship. They have made it as painless as possible. We dropped off the luggage at the white tent. I then went and parked the car at the lot located on the port grounds, steps from the ship. Walked to the tent, picked up a butler who guided us thru the maze of security. No lines for anything. Stopped off in a room for something to drink and eat, if you so choose. Got on the ship and we were in our state room in no time. Getting off the ship even faster. Butler walked us off the ship at 8:15am, and quickly, we're through customs, and a skycap walked us with luggage to parking garage. We were on the road at 8:40am.
The ship is beautiful! The outdoor area of the Yacht club is great. Never, do you have to hunt for a chair. Plenty of sunny areas and shady areas. Even a smoking section. The staff is great. They all went out of their way to please and never the word no.
The food is the only area, that just isn't that great. I know that is subjective, but every specialty restaurant and Le Muse, tasted the same. Since were on it. I terms of beef. Up charge for prime cut and not assume choice is good enough. All in all a good cruise.
Larger than average, because the other rooms are small. Balcony was large. Deeper. Bathroom was on the small size. I'm comparing this category to what you can get on the Haven. Beds are smaller, almost a cot size. But, it is cleaned all of the time.
We have been to this part of Jamaica many times and wanted to do something different. We got a driver and car and went to Noel Coward's estate. It was extremely interesting. We had also made an appointment for lunch at Golden Eye. Ate at the beach restaurant and explored the area that once belonged to Ian Fleming, and where many of the James Bond books were written. Both my wife and I enjoyed the day.
We did plenty of shopping. We were only in Aruba until 2:00pm and so didn't have a lot of time. We had been there before and shopping was great. Had high end designers as well as average.
I have been going to Casa de Campo for years, golf trips and other cruises. So we took a cab to Casa, paid $50.00 to use the property. They drove us to the Marina, where we shopped and they have the Latin Baseball Hall of Fame. We had lunch at Azzura, which was great. Walked around the shops at hotel and went back to the ship.
In our ship daily was a warning of crime in Nassua. I had been there many times over the years, going to the resorts, playing golf and shopping. We stayed on the ship. What bothers me, why would the ship go there, knowing it is a high crime area.
