We took this cruise over the Christmas holidays since it sailed into the panama canal along with three other ports. The food was above average in all the restaurants we dined in. The entertainment was above average compared to other cruise lines. Our room was great along with the butler and room steward. they only staff member who was lacking was the concierge and the main issue with that was she was new to the job and had never traveled to any of the ports of call so she knew nothing about them.
The ship was in great shape and well maintained. No area was ever blocked off or out of service for the entire cruise. All the staff was always friendly and never acted like they were working but rather that they were enjoying being on the cruise as well.
we are looking forward to sailing on the Pearl again when it transitions over to NOLA.
Could not ask for a better stateroom. it was large and had a private hot tub/spa on the balcony. it was in ithe Haven area of the ship and the staff in those areas are always above the rest of the cruise industry standards.
Going into the Pnama canal was a "bucket list" type of experience. Only 15 inces of clearance between out ship and the canal wall. Very cool
nothing really to unique about Puerto Limon. they had tours to take but nothing we were interested in doing. Mostly Eco type stuff that I could see would be of interest to some, just not to us.
