We chose this cruise because we had not been to Portugal before and because we had been told how wonderful the trip had been for others. From the first meeting with the crew of the new Viking Hemming we knew that this would be a great trip. It was the attitude of the crew together that was the secret. This 100% Portuguese crew enjoyed their jobs, loved their country, loved being of service to the passengers., and had the most wonderful sense of humor. If they sensed that you needed anything they were there with smiles and joy in their hearts. My husband had some balance issues and had just started using a cane. The staff was always there for him. If a side trip had any difficult walking issues they were with him before he needed them. The crew was the icing on the cake as the ship, the river, food, side trips made the whole experience more than I could have expected. It was our first Viking trip but not our last for sure.

We enjoyed out stay in Lisbon, it's a beautiful city full of world history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and proud of her country. She explained so well the advances of Portugal, especially in the last 20 years. Again the staff/crew is what made our first Viking trip so wonderful.
