I've always wanted to go to Europe. This year was our 25th anniversary, so I bit the bullet and scheduled our cruise. It was the best vacation and the best cruise that we have ever been on. We enjoyed our Caribbean cruise when we took it, but this Viking River Cruise was on another level altogether. It is a much more intimate cruising experience. Our 21 year old daughter went with us and while she is possibly the youngest patron they have ever seen on one of their ships, she loved every minute of the cruise. If you are interested in the colorful history of Europe and China and Russia, then a Viking River cruise in the first class way to see any of those regions.
Our ship the Viking Schumann was an older ship, but that did not matter. Everything was topnotch. The food was beyond excellent. There were two options for lunch every day. You could go to the dining room for a more formal lunch or eat in the lounge for a lighter fare. The talk on the Velvet Revolution was fascinating. The trip to the Terezin concentration camp was sobering, but it should not be missed for fear that history will repeat itself. The private concert in the Lobkowitz palace was fantastic as was the private lunch that we attended. We extended our stay for 2 days in Prague and the Kutna Hora is a side excursion that is fabulous.
Two single beds which was fine. You are too tired after the shore excursions to want to do anything more than sleep!
Evreything was beyond explanation. Lots of tourists but well woth the trip.
