Sailing the Danube

Even though the tour was billed, Romantic Danube, my cousins and I enjoyed it as a family. There is so much to recommend: friendly, attentive service; delicious and healthy variety in dining experiences; organized excursions with knowledgeable guides with great personalities; but most of all, the convenience of having room, board and transportation taken care of means a traveler's time can be spent enjoying beautiful scenery, architecture, history and culture of these special cities and towns.

A special surprise was exceptional weather for this time of year and a variety of Christmas markets. Finding unique gifts with the flavor of each country or region was the icing on the cake.

Even though our ship experienced a mechanical difficulty, the program directly quickly organized several options so that we could enjoy time ashore while the problem was being fixed.

Port Reviews

Regensburg

Regensburg is an architectural and scenic jewel. Again, a most knowledgeable guide who welcomed questions and requests for more details

Vienna

Besides enjoying a walking tour of Vienna's old center, independently I visited the Belvedere to view the Klemt paintings. Don't miss them. I recommend the cruise add a second day here to do justice to all of the interesting places.
