Although we had been on many ocean cruise this was our first river cruise. We began our journey with a 3 day pre-cruise visit to Prague before boarding our ship in Budapest. Prague was a beautiful city to visit.

Before leaving home we were a little apprehensive about traveling on a smaller ship but found the intimate environment onboard the Viking ship to be great. We met lots of new friends and had an enjoyable time interacting with them both while dining and out on shore excursions.

The included shore excursions for each port provided an incredible history lesson. Tour guides were excelent and in some ports there were options available depending on your particular interests. We did take an optional tours in Vienna for a Mozart concert (highly recommended) and city highlights of Salzburg. The Salzburg tour emphasis was The Sound of Music and while very interesting we felt rushed. Just needed a couple of extra free time hours to explore the city further.

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Cabins on a river cruise are smaller than on an ocean cruise but the Viking Ve stateroom layout was extremely efficient and seemed quite spacious with lots of storage space for personal items and the luggage fit nicely under the bed.
