My wife and I had never been to the Panama Canal and some of the other ports. This was a bucket list trip. We went with a group of 54. Norwegian's subcontractor for port transfers SMS Shore Operations did a terrible job at both LA and Miami. It took us about an hour and a half to get from LAX to the ship (most of the time was at LAX awaiting transport). Our group had to be split into several buses. You would think they would provide a dedicated bus for such a large group. Also, you would think the bus would be waiting after the plane arrived. The transport in Miami didn't go much better. Again, we were split between two buses. Once we were loaded on the bus, the bus driver discovered a problem that prevented him from going to the airport. We had to transfer to another bus. The Jewel was a very clean ship despite how old she is. The room was spacious for a cruise ship of this size. Entertainment was very good. Randon Lauron was outstanding and every time he performed in the Magnum lounge it was packed. He should be part of the main entertainment in the Stardust. The Jewel Band was also outstanding. The first night of dining at Tsar was not that great but got better thereafter. Ate at Cagney's twice and once at Le Bistro. Both were outstanding. Recommend purchasing the specialty meal package. It is well worth the money. The internet was very slow and ate up the time very quickly. We went on an excursion at every port. Cabo San Lucas was not that spectacular unless you are looking to purchase a condo or time share. Acapulco was very interesting and well worth it. We were the first bus to the cliff diving at La Quebrada and had fantastic views. The views from Hotel Las Flamingos and the Fort of San Diego were fantastic. Wish we had more time at Antigua, Granada and Cartagena. The best shore excursion was Discover Costa Rica. Rolando was the best guide we had the whole trip. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony
Cabin BA 9570
Very clean cabin. Bathroom was small as expected but served its purpose. The views from the balcony were excellent. Definitely would recommend balcony on this cruise. Would like to see a bigger LCD tv mounted were picture is hanging from the wall across from bed.
