We chose this cruise as something special for our golden wedding anniversary. When we booked it at our local Thomson shop we told them why we were booking it, and they said they would inform Thomson of our special day. We have only ever sailed with Thomson many many times but this one might just be our last. The ship itself is past its sell by date, the noise and vibration seems to get louder and louder. Yes the cabins are quite large enough, reasonably comfortable and well attended to by happy hardworking cabin staff.
The food is quite good, excellent service in the Meridian Restaurant, but tends to be just lukewarm in the Lido. The show team are very good putting on quite high standard shows most nights. On our special night we were in Muscat and what did Thomson do? Nothing!! We had traveled with friends and they mentioned this to our 2 waiters who immediately recruited a guitarist and sang a couple of songs to us Brilliant.
There is nowhere on the ship to sit with friends and enjoy a quiet drink and a chat without loud music of some description being played. One of our friends spent 3 days in her cabin after catching the flu bug that was going round the ship, not only affecting passengers but a lot of the crew as well including the Captain who had to postpone his reception due to illness.
