We chose this cruise based on itinerary and overall value. The boat was nice and embarkation went smoothly in New York City. We purchased the ultimate beverage package, but that did not include water. NCL no longer allows you to bring water on board, NCL claimed it was because people were supposedly smuggling alcohol aboard -and inspecting bottles to prevent this took a lot of time- but that doesn't seem to explain why they don't include water in the beverage package.
Boat was beautiful, and meals were OK. There was a clear pushing towards upcharges for "better meals" in the specialty restaurants, and even up charges options for meals in the main dining rooms. The "free" entertaintment was good, but there was also the opportunity of an upcharge to a cirque de soleil. (We did not do, but others thought it was worth it) The boat boasts some 22 bars and restaurants, yet most of them played the same station- replays of soccer and badminton. They would get "special feeds" to show NFL playoff games but they claim company policy prevents them from putting any volume on, so I was advised to watch games in my cabin. (?!?!)
Cagney's Restaurant was excellent as a specialty with upcharge. Moderno, the only other specialty we ate at, was not worth it. Room was nice and comfortable. Most bars and restaurants are on floors 6, 7, and 8; with buffet, pool and outside areas on deck 15 and 16. Choose floors based on your interests, as this boat is large. Lots of activities on this boat, ranging from climbing wall, ropes course to a bowling alley
Nice room in good location- easy access to upper outside floors(15, 16), and inside bars and restaurants (6,7,8). Small balcony with no view obstructions
