We have cruised many times and several of those with NCL. The service has been mostly good and the experiences enough to keep us coming back. However, this last cruise, Jan. 2017, on the Pride of America was not nice at all.
The crew doesn't seem to be as nice as the other ships. They seem indifferent and even upset that the passengers are there. There are a couple exceptions in the beverage and wait staff, but for the most part we felt very unwelcome.
Historically, we have found the food on NCL to be good, not great, but not bad either. This time the food was not good at all. Any dessert that had egg in it, tasted and had the texture of scrambled egg. A soufflé should be light, bread pudding should taste like bread and the flavor intended, not scrambled eggs. Creme brulee, forget about it. The eggplant involtini had raw eggplant and a lump of cheese in it.
Room was adequate. Bathroom could be cleaner. Pillows were super firm. It would have been nice to have a variety of pillows. The cabin service was fair at best.
