Looking for new destinations and got a good deal on this cruise......we thought. Mini-suite is roomy enough for 3 people, the food is pretty good and we enjoyed our wait staff in the Summer Palace. Norwegian Pearl has a very poorly designed buffet area and seating is difficult to find. The entertainment was mediocre with a few high points. Activities mostly included a lot of ways to fold paper (origami)........ that would be okay twice. Now, about the location of mini-suites *** don't do it!!! *** Believe previous reviews about the noise all night long over your head (which sounds like in the room) because you will NOT sleep. Lastly, I am pleased to learn this ship is due for overhaul in 2017 as the beds are so worn out that it is the same as sleeping in a hammock.... a hard one. We loved all the ports-of-call except Cartegena (a swarm of hawkers every step) and the carriage ride is not memorable (or like the pictures). The best excursions we took were booked with an outside agency. When Carnival still didn't have many choices in October, I looked around and found a Jungle Jeep Excursion in Belize and Chacchoban Mayan Excursion in Costa Maya. The cost was reasonable and our tours were smaller groups with personal attention by actual natives well-versed in their history and culture (and language).

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Spain)

bus ride, stop at fort to be swarmed upon, bus ride to fortification walls with shopping and carriage ride through not-picturesque streets

Colon (Cristobal)

Stayed on ship for trip back through the canal.

Roatan

Quaint village with pleasant people. Leisurely stroll through town. Bought my souvenirs here at good prices.... local artist oil painting, t-shirts, hand-carved hardwood items.
