We were highly skeptical of going on a cruise. So glad we did it anyways! We went to Cozumel and were planned for Costa Maya, but ended up not getting to go to Costa Maya, because of the storms.

Excursion:

We booked a Monster Jeep excursion for Cozumel, for our party of four (two adults, one 12 year old, and one 5 year old). I am not sure if I would recommend that excursion, although our tour guides were excellent! I thought (from our research before purchasing the package) we were going on a monster jeep to a Mayan ruin, then a virgin beach to snorkel, lunch and come back to port. What we got instead was a wild crazy ride along a rugged, wind-beaten path (whiplash alert) to a small Mayan ruin. One of the tour guys behind us got his Jeep stuck in deep sand. We learned a lot from our guides about the importance of this small (and I mean small 10x10) ruin. We then headed back to an idealistic virgin beach where we were served a very good Mexican lunch. We were sad that we couldn't even go into the ocean at the beach. The waves were high and there was dangerous riptides. There was also a lot of trash on the beach. After lunch, we drove back to town and made a pit stop at a fantastic tequila tasting place. We bought a bottle of the stuff you don't share with others, LOL. The company (ecotours) paid for $10 off a bottle of tequila. We appreciated that. We tipped our guides and our food service guys. My gripes are that the advertising was misleading, the reason why we went with it was because we thought we were going to get a lot of activities built into our excursion. We were very satisfied with the level of service we got from our guides though! We were also happy that our tour group was more intimate (18 people- including the guides).

Cabin Review

Cabin Stateroom

We stayed on level 8, room 8164. I think that room is larger than most regular staterooms for the price we paid. It has a king bed and a bunk bed. Very comfortable size for our party. I also am glad we were on level 8, which allowed us to get to the main areas via stairs decently- we didn't have the patience for waiting for elevators, but didn't have to work too hard on the stairs.

Port Reviews

Miami

This was our port to get on/off the ship. Expensive city for flying in/out of a day before and after the cruise. Good amenities and things to do!
