this was our first Cruise ever and what a way to start - we travelled as a family Me my wife and sons aged 18 and 21 - to think 70 years ago this was the only way to get to New York made the trip even more interesting - Arriving in Southampton to see the sheer scale of the QM2 was amazing - boarding was done very quickly and very efficiently by the Cunard team and we were soon in our room enjoying a bottle of champagne waiting for the ship to commence its journey
SHIP - much bigger than i had ever imagined and really impressive - we found out that the ship had been refitted this year and it was like a 5 star hotel on the water
CABIN - Luxurious we were kindly upgraded to a Q4 penthouse which gave us Queens Grill access - our butler David was a truly lovely man who worked on the ship 10 months a year before returning to his family in Sri Lanka for 2 months a year - his pride in his work and love of Cunard and what it stood for was plain to see - He continually went above and beyond his role and made our stay truly special - the room itself was luxurious spacious and well equipped - the complimentary bar in the room was restocked everyday and the room service was truly outstanding
The room was everything we had hoped for - luxurious bed - plenty of room dining table for 4 sitting area for 4 complimentary in room bar restocked with your choice of wine spirits and soft drinks - butler service (David was unbelievably helpful and a credit to Cunard) - full bathroom including Jacuzzi and large separate shower - beautiful balcony - playstation - boys loved this - 2 large flat screen tvs - our boys stayed in a Princess suite and this was also very nice
easy disembarkation at Brooklyn
Great embarkation at Southampton
