Usually when we travel, my husband and I prefer to be travelers rather than tourists if you know what I mean (we like to stay in smaller locally operated B&Bs, explore towns in the evening away from daytrippers, do active activities such as hiking, biking, and historical sites). So we did not think cruising was for us, but our two kids, age 9 and 5 had been asking to go on a Disney cruise for a while, so we decided to give it a try for my daughter's 5th birthday. We were not disappointed, and will definitely do it again.
Scattered thoughts:
-We live in Dallas, so sailing from Galveston was super convenient and inexpensive. Cheap, monitored parking right inside the port terminal.
-Always clean. Great service. We loved our towel art every evening so much that the kids and grandma took a towel folding.
-My 6'4" husband was pleasantly surprised about not feeling cramped or crowded either in our cabin (an ocean view -- no balcony) or elsewhere on the ship. The motion of the boat was negligible. There was one evening with a little more roll making me feel like maybe I drank a bit too much, and our last night we felt a little sway lying in our bed, but no one in our party was ever sick.
-See above re engine noise.
