My husband, 18 year old daughter and I traveled to Alaska on the Norwegian Pearl the third week of June 2009. We are from Colorado, so we are somewhat used to colder weather and so the 50 - 60 degree temps did not bother us. This was our second cruise, and my husband was somewhat skeptical of NCL after reading a few of the reviews. Well these must have been some old reviews, because the first thing he said was that this was a NICE SHIP! He is extremely picky.

We booked our AG Mini-Suite (11136) through for about $1200 less than what Norwegian had offered. The only good thing I have to say about booking through Travelocity is the price. Once you book your trip you never hear from them again. There is no brochures sent, no additional discounts or coupon books. Nothing. They don't even return calls once they have your money. BUT, it was a HUGE savings so one needs to decide what they are really want in their Travel Agent. I believe booking through NCL is more expensive, but there is a potential for upgrades and they are much more attentive.

We arrived in Seattle a day early. From previous reviews I had read about using a Town Car instead of a cab. I highly recommend this. We booked it through Aaron Town Cars ($40 including tip), and I was so delighted on how professional our driver was, how NEW the automobile was, and the comfortable drive...it felt like a Limo. We ended up using three different Town Car companies, and this was the only one I would recommend. I booked our room via Priceline for $75, and we were able to get the Homewood Suites a few blocks the Space Needle. If I were to do this again, I would definitely have stayed someplace a little closer to the Port or near the Pikes Market (possibly the Edgewater or Marriott if affordable) just for the location. We had made reservations at the Sky City restaurant (on top of the Space Needle), so this is why we chose to stay in this area. The view from the restaurant was grand, but so was the price tag ($200 for appetizers, dinner, wine, and one dessert). The good thing about this is that they include a trip to the observation tower, which easily saves you $16 a person. The food was surprisingly good and the portions were fairly large.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MX

Booked a mini-suite and balcony and it was beautifully made up. It had nice tub/shower in the bathroom,  nice wood walls, and the carpeting and bedding were very cheery. The queen size bed was quite VERY comfortable, and my daughter slept on the couch which slid out similar to a futon double bed (it was a little hard but she made due). A thick curtain could be drawn to to allow privacy and it almost gave it a two room feel. The room was a little cramped with an 18 year old and two adults. If hadn't been for the unbelievable price of $149 for the extra person in the room, I would have definitely booked her another room.
