We departed from Brookyn. We live in CT so it was only a couple hours drive. We went straight on board when we arrived. Checkin was smooth, and before we knew it we were settling in. This is the second time we have been on the QM2 and it was just remastered earlier in 2016. I went with my parents and brother and we met some of the best people on board. We became friends from day one, so there was no time wasted. Dining was ok. THe main dining room, The Britannia, served modest meals, but there were issues with taste and presentation. The service was great, but the menu was lacking. I only attended three of the evenings entertainment, and each night was awesome. The islands were absolutely beautiful (St Maarten, Tortola, Dominica, St Kitts, and St Thomas). We will most definitely be going again either this year or next. Already missing the Cunard White Start Service!

Cabin Review

Standard Inside

Cabin IA

It's an inside cabin. Everything was great except for the lack of light. This was good in the case of morning hangovers, but sucked when we had to get up early to embark on the islands. However, every day and night it was done up nicely from our lovely Steward Donna. She was so accommodating and funny, we don't know what we would've done without her.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

Brooklyn is busy and crowded. Located directly across from Manhattan, it can get a bit wild. But give yourself enough time before embarkation to have that piece of mind.

St. Maarten

Loved this island. I'm glad it was our first one because there were no other ships docked and the beach was nice and empty. There were heaps of restaurant and beach bars along the water and friendly people. Do watch our though, you might get slightly harassed by people trying to sell chairs for the day and other deals. Sitting on a towel on the sand was perfectly ok and comfortable.

Tortola

Tortola was also really fun. It was just another beach day for us, but this one was located on the other side of the island, so a taxi was needed. However, there are plenty of those, so you needn't be worried. The water was beautiful and the beach was long, perfect for a nice stroll. Bumped into some friends, so it made the day more fun.

Dominica

I wouldn't say it was the best of islands to visit. I got up really late that day because I heard its not an island you want to spend that much time on. I went to the nearest hotel/restaurant and bar for a drink, went shopping, but it was mostly a boat day. We didn't find really cheap alcohol though, if thats what you're looking for. It was a good day to relax.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Loved the beach at St. Kitts. We went to Cockleshell bay. They had a volleyball net, a nice restaurant and bar on the beach. It was pretty secluded, and quite a taxi drive from port, but well worth it. The island is much better maintained than the other islands. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the price of food. A lunch for 4 with a couple beers each came out to $100+. Quite a shock for us. But nonetheless, was a great time.

St. Thomas

St. Thomas was probably my favorite island. Considering its a US Virgin Island, the roads were well maintained, and Magens Bay Beach was absolutely stunning. It does cost more for a taxi, as well as entering the beach ($5) but that keeps out vendors and other people trying to sell you stuff, as well as beach maintenance and lifeguard (which is appreciated).
