We assumed we were getting the same caliber ship and amenities on the Carnival Valor as we did on the Magic, but we didn’t.
Cigarette smoke was everywhere and not just by the casino. We smelled it in the lobby, on guest decks and even near the elevators on the Lido deck.
We paid for a balcony, yet three or four days, they were “cleaning” or painting. They woke us one morning working outside and then one day I couldn’t go out as they were on our balcony. Maybe one day per cruise, but not multiple days!
On both of our prior cruises (Carnival Magic and Princess Emerald), we always saw crew cleaning. We only saw it once on the Valor.
The ship was late coming to port, so we didn’t complain about the dusty counters in the room. My husband found towels that had poop stains on them.
Food in the dining room was just room temperature, like it’d been sitting out for an hour or more. Service was extremely slow and one night, the waitress kept giving us stuff we didn’t order.
There wasn’t a lot to do during the day unless you attended info-mericials where they tried to sell you something or you had to pay extra. Most Trivia was held next to the casino’s – very smoky.
The two in room free movies and tv shows repeated throughout the whole week. The playlist up on Lido repeated the same dozen songs the whole day.
We paid for Hilton quality, but it didn't even make it to Motel 6 level.
None of the crew employees cared.
Pros of the trip: our shore excursions, the comedy routines, the hot food we found (pizza, burgers, wok, sandwiches and omelettes,)
Pink, salmon, and cantaloupe colors - wouldn't be my pick.
Jolly Roger catamaran, snorkel, light lunch, drinks.View All 345 Snorkeling Reviews
They were real nice and we enjoyed what we saw, which wasn't much, but we heard there were places to stay away from, so maybe that's why. The food area they take you to has really good meat pies and rice & beans. Enjoyed chatting with the locals there.View All 93 City Tour Reviews
I think we didn't see much marine life as they had already done the tour with another group. The fish were mainly on the starboard side and when the sub turned around, they took the exact same path, and most of the fish had moved on. Wish they'd vary it some so we could've seen more.View All 97 Submarine Tour Reviews
