this was a last minute decision to go away for new year after a particularly bad year, we thought the break would do us good. As we are not new to cruising we thought this would be a lovely cruise around a familiar area. How wrong could we be, we did not expect this to be 5 star however we did expect a certain level of comfort. Cabins were so small only one person could stand up at a time, the vibration was so bad the tiles in the bathroom were literally falling off the wall before our eyes, the towels were grey with use and the fittings were falling apart. I complained to the reception and asked to speak to the hotel manager on board, was told he would be in touch ASAP. this was on day one of our 7 days and we have been home for 5 days and still no sign of him despite attending reception every day where staff were very un helpful and sometimes down right rude.

The food was terrible and the service and cleanliness in the dining room was abysmal, on one occasion we had to wait for a table to be set and when we sat down I could tell what the previous occupant of the table had eaten as much of it was still on the table, when I disapproved the waiter brought a fresh napkin and covered the food stains, we promptly left without eating.

The sun deck was around the funnel which constantly omitted soot onto the deck, sun loungers and sun bathers. The decks were never washed down and the sun loungers were in a filthy state. The pool deck was constantly in a state of chaos with cheap, tatty game shows conducted by very amateur entertainment hosts and was like being on a cross channel booze cruise. The Majesty was like a converted cross channel ferry and is only good for scrap. Overall this was a complete disaster and Thomson should butt out of the cruise industry and leave it to those who know what they are doing.
