Just wanted to offer our opinion on our weekend Bahamas Celebration Cruise. We took the deal as part of the timeshare promo (I know we don't share timeshare details here) just wanted to say we did this as a budget option for our kids to have a chance to try a short cruise. We upgraded to the the 3 night weekend cruise and upgraded to an outside 'club suite' for sleeping purposes. Our kids are 9 and 6 and this was their first cruise. The cabin was a decent size with a double bed and a sofa, chairs & table. Unfortunately, we also had 2 rollaway beds in there most of the time. The air conditioning in the cabin would be our main complaint, but it was tolerable. All in all, I would say it's well worth the budget pricing and a short getaway and certainly a good trial run before putting out big bucks for a Disney cruise or something similar.  I've seen several negative comments on these boards, but our experience did not match most of them, and some of the tips we read were very helpful.Mainly, I'd point out it is a budget line and a smaller ship than most of the 'standard' ships. That was fine with us it's only a 2 or 3 night cruise. The terminal is not luxurious and the personnel there not very friendly. Once you are checked in, you go upstairs where you are shown spa pricing, wine options, and you choose dining seatings. We chose to eat in the Crystal Dining Room 2 nights (seated and served, my preference on a vacation!) and 1 night in the Rio (buffet). The service was excellent in the Crystal, in fact, our server made a real effort with our kids. The food was pretty good - each night had different choices: 2 appetizers, 1 soup, 1 or 2 salads, 4 entree selections (seafood, pasta, chicken and beef), and 3 or 4 desserts. Our server even brought smaller versions of 2 desserts for our 6 year old when he couldn't decide. We had breakfast in the Rio 2 mornings and on deck the morning of disembarkation. The Rio was definitely better than on deck, with a made-to-order omelet station and belgian waffles. I thought the selection was good and even our 6 year old picky eater ate well. We had a pizza in the little Italian place 1 afternoon and 1 day managed to catch the ice cream place open. The entertainment was just ok. On the 3 night cruise, there was a dance group that performed each night, a different singer on Friday and Saturday, a juggler from Cirque on 2 of 3 nights, Carloid (a comedian) all 3 nights (brief on the 2nd night) and a magician/comedian the 3rd night. Dancers were weak, 1 singer was good, 1 was not, the juggler was great, Carloid was an absolute scream, the magician was pretty good but his comedy was weak. Following the advice we found here and from friends, we skipped the 'mandatory' meeting in the afternoon where they try to sell you excursions. We booked a room at the Comfort Suites across from Atlantis for a AAA rate of $178. We took the ferry over for $3 each, walked 5 minutes to the hotel, checked in at 9:30 am and happened to be given room keys. That was great because it started raining hard as we checked in! So we went to our room and put on our swimwear and left dry clothes and unnecessary items in the room. We walked across the street and walked around Atlantis enjoying the exhibits, then finally got lunch. When we finished eating, they had started opening pools and slides again, so we were able to enjoy several hours there. By the time we needed to leave (4 pm), the kids were exhausted so we walked back to our room where everyone showered and rested a few minutes. We took a cab from the hotel to the pier for $4 each, then walked around the shops and straw market for awhile before boarding the ship again at 6.On the day at sea, we did persuade our children to try the children's club (ages 3-9) for an hour just to give me a break. They watched a movie for most of that hour but played a little PSP as well. It was a conflict for me since I didn't want to dump them in childcare on vacation, but it did give me time to shower in peace! All in all, we had a great time. I would suggest improvements if this were meant to be a 'full-service' longer-trip cruise line, but for the price and the time onboard, it's a great starter cruise or a short getaway.
