Some of our friends had recommended Carnival because of the price. We just returned on New Years eve from a cruise to Mexico on the Fantasy. We have been on two other cruise lines and this one rates at the bottom. There were a couple main complaints: the entertainment was terrible. Mikey the cruise director tried hard and did the best anyone could do to entertain the crowd but the ship took the cheap way out. They used Mikey and the passengers to provide the entertainment, instead of hiring professionals. It was really bad compared to the other 3 cruises we had been on. The ship was over crowded and everything we attempted to do there was a line. The Universe theater was situated so that you could hardly see the stage from the second floor. The layout of the ship was also lacking. The musicians and singers that were hired to perform throughout the ship had terrible stages where if you were trying to listen you could only see them from the side or back. The area in which the bands performed was a smoking area and very offensive to no-smokers. I way say their on boat app was excellent and the room attendant was excellent as well as the servers in the Jubilee main dining. The process of getting on and off the boat went well.
