This cruise left 2 days before Christmas and returned the day after New Years, so it was truly a holiday away at sea. We took the cruise with a large family group to celebrate a family event and it exceeded expectations in almost every way. The ship is very large, twice the size of ships we had previously cruised on, but for this trip (leaving the Northeast in December, 10 nights at sea, 35 family members), it was great. There was reasonable variety in restaurants including several general dining halls, several buffet options, steakhouse, sushi, italian and some other specialties, great variety in venues to gather, in music and shows in the evening, and in activities for our many family members spanning ages from 3 to 80. We did play basketball, ride bumper cars, surf the flow rider, fly the ifly, ride the northstar, jog the track, do spin class, go to the gym, go snorkeling, go zip-lining, read, chill-out, dance, watch college football on the gigantic screen outside while in the hot tub, see shows, see late night comedy, play name that tune, celebrate midnight on dance floor with New Years Eve in Time Square on the inside big-screen. We celebrate Christmas with some family, Hanukah with other family, and festivus with everyone. The 4 ports were each great destinations that we would like to go back to and spend more time. And Labadee exceeded expectations as the beach was very nice and the snorkeling was great. All in all it was a great trip.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin was spacious (given a boat). Roomy bathroom with nice shower, sufficient closet space to put all clothing away and store luggage bags under bed. Balcony was nicely private. Room service was very easy and available.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

The good part of Bayonne is the ease of getting on the cruise and the proximity to NYC. It is a dockyard.

San Juan

Easy to walk directly into Old San Juan and that part of town is delightful to stroll and shop. Some of the group took the excursion to the old Fort and enjoyed it. I would recommend making dinner reservations in advance especially if there are multiple ships in port as the better restaurants had long waits.

St. Maarten

The water taxi from the port brings you right to Philipsburg and the beach and is very easy and simple to get to. Prepare to pay for beach chairs, although the locals will provide a package of 2 chairs, an umbrella, and a bucket of beers for a package price. We took a taxi over to Marigot on the French side which was very nice but there was a lot of traffic so give yourself at least 40 minutes each way.

St. Thomas

The town is a short taxi ride away and a very nice shopping area.
