Our experience aboard the emerald princess was ruined by the lack of hygiene by the staff onboard the ship . During our lunch experience in the very crowded Horizon court we witnessed one of the cooks behind the counter say to his fellow cook " I am so sick" then proceeded to sneeze twice in to his hands then move the food around in the warmer, then at every port when we reboarded the ship not one of the staff used the hand sanitizer that we saw and on one occasion was pushed aside by a crew member on the gang plank to rush ahead obviously late for work.
After the first port of wotnessing the crew ignoring the sanitizer we reported it to the front desk where the young woman rolled her eyes and said that it is impossible to control that without knowing who the culprits were. We then wrote to the Hotel manager who replied that health and wellbeing was important to them ,yeah right as in Akaroa there was no hand sanitizer available at the tender station and the rest of the ports the crew continued to avoid the sanitizer!
There was a terrible chest and throat infection rampant onboard and also diarrhoea which made it even more of a necessity to ensure extra care was taken but I guess sick people increases their revenue from the medical centre onboard.
