In General, I have to say that I’m very pleased with RCL. The people on the ship were very nice. Most people smile all the time and they’re not quick to say “no” when you ask for things. They do seem to have things down to a science and there’s not much waiting around as is often the case on other cruise lines. But I do have a few items about this particular cruise and ship that I think my fellow Cruise Critic followers would like to know:
1. The cabin steward was MIA until the last day of the cruise when it came time for him to scout for tips. This is a pet peeve of mine, especially when you call for them and they don’t come or leave notes that they ignore. They should be visible and available all the time. TWO bath towels is not enough for two fully grown humans. We even splurged and got the junior suite. Total waste of money if you ask me, all you get is a bigger room. Not worth the TEN TIMES as much, which is what you’ll pay. No exaggeration, TEN TIMES.
2. They had an electric scooter in our room we didn’t order. I put it in the hall and it stayed there the entire length of the cruise. So people of course gave me dirty looks as I hobbled in and out of my room with my cane. I asked 3 times for it to be removed. Strangely, it disappeared for a few hours on day 3.
Run down and rusty. All the furniture finish was rubbed down to bare wood and the furniture all had stains all over it. Some really black like oil on the couch. Really unbelievable. We would have told our steward if we had seen him before the last day. Nice tea service / coffee setup, but no electricity for it. Hmmm.....
Miami is super expensive and parking is ridiculous. I'll avoid it when possible. But with 7 ships in the port, I imagine it will be hard to avoid.
