This was my first cruise, I'm a solo traveller and usually go on more adventurous trips, but felt like a relaxing break and thought I'd give it a go. Overall, I enjoyed it and would travel again on a cruise with Thomson's. I travelled on TUI Discovery on the Paradise Islands itinerary, flying with Thomson's.

The flights (I went from Birmingham) were OK, although the plane is cramped for a 9 hour flight. Gatwick flies out a Dreamliner, but cost almost £1000 more! I was really impressed with how well organised and smooth the embarkation process was, and likewise disembarkation was fairly smooth. I did find having to pack the night before and thus carry extra hand luggage annoying, but I understand that's normal on all cruises.

The ship is a nice looking vessel, much more attractive than the lumbering megaships we saw alongside us. Inside it was all very clean and smart and modern. The atmosphere on board is relaxed and friendly. I went for this cruise line because of its informality - you can eat whenever and wherever you want wearing whatever you want. There are dressing up opportunities and more formal dining for those who want that - for me I just want casual. There were lots of families with young children on the cruise, and I suspect the informality appealed to them.

Cabin Review

Cleaned twice a day to a high standard. Tea and coffee making facilities. Plenty of storage space, and a small en suite bathroom. Toilet system often blocked (not by me!).
