Embarkation in Bayonne, NJ: Slow and confusing...better signage is needed.
Beautiful ship. We chose it for the activities that are available onboard and were sadly disappointed. I have been on several cruises and 5 different cruise lines and have never experienced the requirement to reserve activities. I wanted to go on the North Star and the Ripcord by iFly so these activities are what edged me toward this more expensive ship. On the second day, I heard some people talking about reservations which I assumed they meant for the restaurants but it was actually about the activities. I checked into it...absolutely no time available for the rest of the cruise. Apparently, if you reserve early, you can reserve as many time slots as you want...without limitation. Meanwhile LOTS of people can't participate. The same goes with the shows in the main theatre...you need to reserve or stand in the "standby line" to get the worst seats. This kind of feels like when you try to get concert tickets for your favourite band and the first 100 scalpers buy all of them.
On other cruise lines, you arrive at an activity or show and line up to have the same ability as everyone else to do what you want.
Nice enough room...kind of wish the bed was not beside the balcony door though. Two configurations avail: bed by the balcony door or sitting area by the balcony door.
Love Nassua. Beach close to the ship and $3 cold beer at most stores.
Just went shopping...nothing special.
Used Carmel car service from LGA. Get a $6 coupon at the airport and then call...don't need to book ahead because you won't be able to use the coupon if you do. 4 people in a private van, tax, tip, and tolls included cost $120 total.
