Oceana Cruise Review by bandray
- Sail Date: December 2016
- Destination: Mediterranean
- Cabin Type: Balcony Stateroom with Shower
Embarkation was well handled if not a bit lengthy but we did get our cabin as soon as we got on board.
We paid extra for a balcony cabin due to my husbands always getting sore throats etc due to the air conditioning. Despite keeping the doors open whenever we were in it, day and night we both went down with it and as the weather was not good was really a waste of money, that and the fact that we kept having to close the doors as we kept getting loads of cigarette smoke and cooking smells wafting in from below us somewhere.
Dining was a pleasure, service excellent as always and the food was varied and plentiful.Poached eggs at breakfast always stone cold so avoided them after 2 mornings.
Dress code has been lowered to appease the masses which to us is a negative as it takes away what was special in the evenings.
Entertainment was to our taste on a few nights but not others but that is purely a matter of taste.
Photography still overpriced considering we are now in the digital age which cuts production costs hugely.
Shop prices again over priced.
Drinks at the bar reasonable but wine by the bottle well over priced.
Did not go on any excursions as we felt that again they are too expensive.
Disembarkation the fastest we have ever experienced so well done there P& O.
We liked the Oceana but missed having a sociable bar with sea views like the crows nest on the Oriana.

Our steward was pleasent enough but could do with some more training on how to clean. There were loose flakes of paint on the balcony from day one which could have easily been vacuumed up. rails i wiped down with tissues.Mirrors and windows and picture glass all very dusty and dirty and I went over the shelves etc with tissues to lay the dust. First cruise I have not tipped as we felt that not complaining about him was generous enough.
