1) We had an outstanding stateroom attendant. He even assisted with getting maintenance to fix the light fixture in our bathroom (flickering). He even remembered our names!! 2) Excursion staff were excellent in assisting us with a complaint against our excursion in Belize which was a VERY unsatisfactory excursion. 3) Pool staff tried to accommodate everyone on sail days; however, there was not enough chairs for everyone which caused an actual fight on the ship and *many* altercations between cruise takers 4) Bar staff were very prompt 5) Acupuncture therapist was very green in acupuncture; I would not recommend seeing him EVER 6) Band on pool deck was always reggae. No other band played. 7) Cruise was hispanic based which was not appreciated by English only speaking cruise takers ("what is he/she saying?") 8) Asked for a football game to be played on the big screen by the pool. Was told that this could not happen because they had to follow the "Cruise Compass"... so we watched a countdown to New Years for an hour (which was just numbers "xx:xx:xx") and then got to watch the Royal Caribbean cruise logo (underwater with bubbles) play over and over until the feature movie was to be played. Really?!? 9) Our family was sitting on the side of the deck on New Years Eve waiting to watch the movie "Pete's Dragon". We were forced to relocate to another section which had poor sound and visibility of the screen. Then when we did move, no one could tell us if where we were moving to was ok and they were not going to move us again. Please note that this was FIVE HOURS BEFORE New Years. 10) Pool Deck TV Screen: If you do not have sound for what is on the TV, could you not put on "closed captioning" so maybe people could read what was being said? Poor deaf people.... (Closed captioning was used during movies so the feature was available) 11) Ice Cream Machine: This cruise, being for the holidays, had a ginormous amount of kids on it and Royal Caribbean supplied only ONE ice cream machine which was constantly running out of vanilla. This may not be a problem for everyone unless you have a screaming 3-year-old. 12) Kid Pool: The spray features in the kid pool were not functioning. It was nice to have a kids pool buuuuuut kids tend to like the things working in order to stay entertained with using it. Maybe a slide? 13) Room size: Beds were pushed together to form one (as requested). You could only walk around one size of the bed, the other side was against the wall. The head of the bed was against the wall and the foot of the bed was against the cabinet under the TV so you had to crawl over things/other person to get in and out of bed. Definitely could use MORE room to accommodate the 'stuff' required for a 7 night cruise. 14) Shower: Our shower was mislabeled hot/cold. So if you turned it to 'cold', the water was NOT cold. The shower curtain/door did not keep water from escaping onto the bathroom floor. 15) Announcements: We could not hear any announcements in our room. If you heard mumbling, you had to run to the door and open it to hear if there was an announcement (I'm not complaining about this tho; luckily there were no emergencies) =)

Staff was great; however, Empress is O.L.D.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • The Belize Zoo
Bus arrived on time. Got us to zoo before it opened so we waited. Did not get to see most animals as they were sleeping. You can get in the cage with the jaguar for an extra $20 per person and be licked by the jaguar (the guide said that this is normally $50 so we got a 'break'). Went to lunch place. Food was burned. Boat to take us on the river was 90 minutes late so the river boat then rushed us back to the port on the "chocolate river" as we deemed it so we wouldn't miss our port time. We saw maybe 5 crocodiles, a dozen monkeys, and five iguanas while on the boat. Not worth the money.

Excellent. Many water slides to go on. Zip lines were fun. There are even slides for little ones. A lot of fun!
