  3. Carnival Magic
Loved the ship and the staff. Typical design - but very clean and pretty. Loved the Cucina del Capitan, the casino and dive in movies. Loved the serenity deck with lots of space - but wonder why does Carnival insist on putting a serenity deck right by the water works where all the kids are and making noise as would be expected? Maybe a design team needs to look at putting this lovely serenity deck someplace that is serene. Our cabin was a typical 4J (interior with walkway view). The interesting thing is that people could see right in our window. Typically these windows you can look out of but not into - very surprising and did not like that. The entertainment was the BEST ever. The singers were phenomenal - even watched some shows twice. Not the typical we are mediocre so we have to show our butt cheek shows - but we are awesome so we don't have to be strip club like. LOVED it - would have been proud to take my aging parents and my grandson too...more like this please. We do not prefer the American dining and skipped the MDR 4 nights out of 7. Loved our waitstaff - but just did not care for the selections. Ports were: San Juan - we just got off the ship - took a 50 cent ferry across the water and a taxi to the bacardi rum factory and did the Mixology tour - the best!!!!! St. Thomas - stayed on the ship - but could have easily taken a taxi to a beach - there are many nice ones Grand Turk - just stayed on a the beach - ate a high dollar plate of nachos - which were excellent and enough for 4 or more people. Had a high dollar drink which was excellent. Went snorkeling right there and saw many fish. Could have gone to Jack's Shack for more reasonably priced food and drink but did not. There are now a great number of 'sales' people walking this beach which never happened in the past - offering umbrellas, hair braiding, excursions - it really did detract from what we love about Grand Turk which is the ability to walk right off, get a lounger and enjoy a peaceful beach - not so much any more. Amber Cove - we went before and loved this = had a poolside cabana in the past which was amazing. They were sold out so got a hillside cabana. Bad choice for us. The jacuzzi they list - is a two person bathtub type jacuzzi and was cold. The cabana itself was lovely with couch, chair, two loungers, tv, wifi and small fridge...the snacks were disgusting - last time we had lovely fruit and this time 3 little bags of some type of chips and some cracker things that had already been opened. The private waiter was nice - but the selection of food and drink he could bring was awful - ordered buffalo chicken and got some weird deep fried chicken chunks - just odd. Then down by the pool they had some dancers come out on the pool bar - I thought they were going to be like polynesian type dancers - but ended up being more like pole dancers - very weird and considering this is supposed to be a family area - not really appropriate - what a shame. For us the hillside cabana was definitely not worth the $300 - would have stayed by the pool and relaxed - but the entertainment for a family area was more than questionable...UGH!!! But we loved our cruise, the people we met, the staff on the ship and particularly the shows. Only made it to the comedy club once - standing room only - but loved that as well.

Casino Staff was excellent

Cabin Review

Interior with Picture Window (obstructed views)
Cabin 4J 9201
Typical 4J - lots of room - only negative is people could see in through our window which was a first for us - typically the windows on these cabins have something on them that allows guests to look out but not in.
Lido Deck Inside Cabins, Balcony Cabins
