This was not a pleasant cruise. The ship was old and resembled a 1980's RSL club in need of a refit. The food in the main dining room was mostly terrible - weird combinations, not served hot, poor presentation and lacking love. Despite being a Christmas cruise, there was nothing special on the tables, except for a couple of cheap Christmas crackers. There is only one coffee shop onboard, when compared to Radiance of the Sea (which had two) is surprising when it is a much larger ship. Unlike Radiance, there was not one poolside BBQ lunch and no poolside cafe. Perhaps the worst thing about this cruise was the constant attempts to make you pay more. A bottle of water for US $4.50, espresso coffee with dessert extra, movies in your cabin US $12, speciality dining from an extra US $35 a glass of average wine US $12 are just a few of the examples. Having to pay $12.99 per day for average internet access is also an insult. Royal Caribbean must be doing it tough because the only bathroom amenities were a cake of soap & a container of nameless two-in-one shampoo & conditioner attached to the shower wall. Not even a notepad & pen supplied in the cabin. No self service laundry which is annoying (compared to other cruise lines) & is yet another avenue for the cruise line to make more money. It must have cost the many families onboard a small fortune in laundry fees. The only saving grace was pleasant staff.
Our cabin was large and our Room Attendant, Rosli, was terrific. He organised a kettle for us and was very helpful with all our requests. He did an excellent job of keeping the cabin clean and was always happy. I rated the cabin as average only due to the lack of bathroom amenities.
