Low price attracted us to this cruise. After interior cabins sold out, we booked an outside view. After booking, we got reciprocity for our RCI diamond plus status which gave us Black Card status on MSC. We also got a 5% discount on our booking. Then, MSC upgraded us to a balcony which was very nice.
We had read complaints (on Cruise Critic) concerning crowding & pushing at the buffet lines but we experienced not much more of this than on all of our other cruises.
The ship was amazingly clean & shipshape. Nary a rust spot to be seen. The decor was 'tastefully swank'.
Our room was very nice & clean. There was the dreaded shower curtain which barely covered the shower opening, but we managed to get our showers without flooding the bathroom.
We had spent 7 nights in Barcelona prior to the cruise (and 5 nights several years ago), so we covered the city pretty well. This was our embarkation port.
We just got off the ship and walked about a mile to the city center, took some pictures and enjoyed cappuccinos (only 1.20 euros each if you stand at the counter).
We had been to Rome several times, so we took the free shuttle out to the city center and just walked around. Nice town but not stupendous. Had a nice pizza and walked all the way back to the ship.
Absolutely smashing port stop. Can't recommend highly enough.
This was our 100th country and/or dependency we have visited, so it was a special treat for us.
To site is the stunning floor of the St. John's Co-Cathedral.
