We were unsure what to expect for our first cruise but the experience with Thomson was fantastic from start to finish (except the flight home)! We travelled as a couple (25 and 26 years old) and were unsure what to expect as we knew cruises were typically for retirees. When we embarked the photographer commented 'you're the youngest couple on board' but actually we found the age range to be very mixed and all the passengers extremely friendly, so didn't feel out of place at all. The ship was the perfect size to get your bearings and never felt crowded even on our day at sea. We were impressed with the cabin size and were glad we'd upgraded to an outside cabin. The room service twice a day was fantastic and the little touches such as remembering our names, chocolates on pillows and towel animals made it special. The room felt clean at all times and never grubby/filled with sand considering we were on a beach almost everyday. The food on the ship was outstanding from the snack-shack to the buffet to the al a carte. The food was always hot, there was a great choice and the quality and taste was fantastic. The waiters were sometimes almost too attentive constantly topping up wine. The bar service needs a little work as the staff seemed more miserable and less personable than elsewhere. Getting a drink at the bar or from a 'floating waiter' was slow and they didn't serve people in order or ask who was next which caused frustration. There was also a lack of menus in drinks venues so it became confusing what was and wasn't included in the all inclusive package. Drinks that you would expect to be included such as carbonated soft drinks weren't unless ordered with a spirit? If we had the option we wouldn't include the drinks package next time. The entertainment was fabulous and we particularly enjoyed the Broadway show lounge (which was very comfortable) and The Venue for the Game Shows. The pool area and adults only sunbathing was great although a little more attention could be paid to details on the cleaning in these areas, such as around the windows and whirl pool showers. Overall, we would absolutely book a Thomson cruise again and would highly recommend to anyone.
