Embarkation was ok, could be improved upon though.Clerks doing the work have not enough space and documents fall on the floor. The air conditioning struggles in cabins, sometimes it was blowing sewerage smells into the cabin sometimes it was the galley smell. No we did not leave the balcony door open. The poor Sun Princess was a beauty years ago but it is high time she was put out to pasture. Cosmetic upgrade is not enough.Whoever sold the cabins to Retirement Homes and Nursing Homes probably think themselves very clever. But as Elite members we shall not be returning to Princess. I fell ill in Burnie with the gastro virus then my husband fell ill five days later. Frail seniors we doubt washed their hair under the shower as they did not feel safe on a moving ship.[ cleanliness] I think this attributed to the gastro virus spreading over the ship. I doubt they used the laundry facilities either. It is not pleasant being so sick and having such a high number of frail seniors possibly bringing in the virus . We all know this virus comes from close living conditions like Nursing Homes and Hospitals. If Princess are selling cabins to such a high proportion of seniors we will not be back on board. Comparing Princess to Holland America there is no comparison. Their standard cleaning practices are continually wiping the balustrades and lifts this needs to be done on Princess. We found Princess were reactive and not proactive. With such a huge out break of the virus I don't know why the Lifts were not operated by stewards instead of the passengers, this would have at least kept the virus from spreading so much. The melon halfway through the cruise we found a bit off, even found fruit fly in the salad towards the end of the cruise up on the 14 deck restaurant. We saw vacuum cleaners but did not notice them being used in our cabin! We could see the same crumbs on the carpet from days earlier.

The restaurant was the best and most professional place on the vessel. The shops had a poor selection. Whoever was the Buyer for Princess needs to wake up to more stylish fashions. Black and Black with diamanté sparkles are awful. The selection of perfume was not what it was a decade ago. The girl selling cosmetics did not know much about Estee Lauder. In all we did not come back refreshed but rather sick and glad to be home to recuperate. Looking forward to Holland America to get over the Princess cruise!

What some passengers complained about and we agreed, why do Princess send their old tubs down to Australia? We are not second rate citizens and expect better than what Princess are providing. We are seniors ourselves but we used the Laundry services and daily shampooed our hair!

Cabin Review

Cabin BB

Standard Balcony Cabin, we could not help but notice the vacuum cleaner was either not working or the cabin steward had too much work to do combating the virus. Crumbs on our carpet were still there five days later. Yes we ordered room service to our cabin. The pillows are fantastic and the matress also. Was nice to have a bigger tv screen but did not think much of the movie selection or the tv programmes.
