As we have been on the Mediterranean cruise 3 times previously and wanted to cruise the Mediterranean during the Christmas season, the only choice was NCL Spirit. We thought we would try this cruise as a prelude to a longer NCL cruise.

After booking and paying for the cruise, NCL informed us that the ship will not be stopping in Naples but Palermo instead. Of course if there was a difference in port charges, NCL did not provide any adjustments.

The Spirit was late getting into the Venice port by 6 hours. Embarkation was delayed by many hours, causing chaos at the terminal. Passengers were not offer hot beverages or food while waiting for the ship to start the boarding process. The Spirit had to leave a day later due to the weather. NCL did not offer any adjustment in port charges or OBC for the inconvenience. When the staff was asked about adjusting port charges, On Board Credits or providing more details on ports, staff said nothing will be done as "it is not NCL fault" or they would say "its NCL policy".

Cabin Review

Oceanview Porthole Window

Cabin OX

The shower had glass door instead of a curtain which was a nice touch. The cabin steward took pride in his work. He made sure we had lots of tissue for our allergy.

The bed sagged so badly that one could not get a decent night sleep. Front desk place a memory foam on the mattress but all it did was make a saggy bed softer. The bed still sagged. It didn't matter where on the bed you slept, you would always slid down the slope. One would wake up with a back ache and bed sores all over the body.

The cabin was scented with either air freshers, perfumes or scented disinfectants which is a strong concern. We found even after requesting the cabin steward to stop spraying, the scent lingered and the ventilation also brought in the scent. Having allergies to air freshers, perfumes and scented disinfectants we were congested throughout the whole cruise. They couldn't supply enough tissue.
