I chose this cruise because I wanted my 22 & 19 year olds to enjoy the activities which were mainly the Flo Rider, Rock wall and Dancing areas. I called Royal Carribean directly and was told there were few rooms left and that put the pressure on me to get it booked. I wanted to give my kids a special trip for Christmas. After I booked this cruise and purchased the insurance in case any of us were ill before the cruise, I then found out that I could have gotten perks and likely a very special discount had I actually booked through a travel agent. That was super disappointing to say the least.

Only after I booked and paid was I then told that I would have to buy a drink package if I wanted my family to drink bottled water, any type of soda, orange juice, etc. This package was 26.00 per day per person plus 18% per person. I wasn't told that I would also be charged $13.50 per person per day for the gratuities. They offered a drink package of $61 per person per day if we wanted alcohol. I understand that alcohol would be additional and I understand that I would be tipping those that served me, but this was only explained after I had already booked so my $3,000 cruise for 2 rooms/4 people now cost me an additional $800 plus and I hadn't even gotten on board yet. I was told my food and beverages were included which really meant only tap water, lemon water and tea at our meals only. My daughter needed tampons, they charged $20.00 for 20 cardboard tampons.

The food was okay and nothing to brag about. The cabin was great and the service in our cabin was perfect. The embarkation was delayed by 2 hours so we only got on the boat at 5:30 p.m. and by the time they had us go through the lining up to understand what to do and where to go in an emergency, we weren't freed until closer to 7 p.m. and they wanted to still charge us the tips and drink charges for the day on that first day and then also on the day that were were off the ship in Cozemel from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. so we were charged these fees for 2 days were weren't even on the ship. The ship is nice, but there were many areas that smelled like in the hallways and in a couple of the clubs. I was super disappointed that they allowed smoking in the casino. We all enjoy gambling and slots and the smoke at times was unbearable. I was super dissappointed overall and will not go on Royal Carribean again. I think they are money hungry mongrels who don't care a lick about people. They only care about how much they can gouge you! We booked our own excursion and had an amazing time in Cozemel.
