Embarkation and Disembarkation
Embarkation was good and with a time set for embarkation you know what time to arrive. We arrived early due to us stopping in a hotel the night before and had to sit and wait as did other people who arrived early but the systems seems to work and we had no complaints.
Disembarkation was easy as we were able to leave the ship any time after 8.15am and were on our way home at 9.00am with little hassle.
Cabin
The ship was not what we expected as we had been on the Oriana and found it not really suitable for the disabled so it was with some trepidation that we went on the Oceana for the first time. Let me put that fear to bed we found this ship easy to get about with lots of room in the lifts and public areas and as always the crew were attentive and very helpful.
Our second “first” was we had booked an inside cabin and were shocked at the size and cupboard and drawer space in the cabin. We were a bit disappointed that we could not have a queen size bed but two singles but the space in the room made up for this minor disappointment. A double wardrobe with enough space to hang the suits, jackets, trouser and shirt on the one side and dresses and trousers on the other side and single wardrobe that contained shelves with a safe and life jackets. Then around the one wall was several banks of three double drawer unit which added up to a total number of drawers to twelve. We hadn’t brought enough clothes to use all of these drawers. There was also a cupboard next door to the fridge and three further double drawers in the bedside cabinet.
As I use an electric wheelchair and my wife use a mobility scooter there was plenty of space to fit both units in and be able to get around the cabin with ease. My only concern is that most ships have only one three pin plug so we have to pack a short extension lead so we can recharge the scooter and wheelchair batteries at the same time.
