Traveled with children

We traveled with my grandson and his family (boys 6 & 11) their first cruise. They enjoyed all the water activities and the sports area. For myself I found the the food mediocre. Guys Burgers and Pig and Anchor were good. They enjoyed the Dr Seuss breakfast. This was our 10th cruise, we usually cruise on Royal Caribbean but this looked like the best for the boys. There were never many in the dinning room, the choices of entrees were not that great. I paid for the chat service on the Hub app which did not work 99% of the time. After Tuesday it never worked and before that it only worked if you were all in the middle of the ship. Great idea but needs great improvement if you are going to charge a fee to use. The cabin was Ok have had much better, had the balcony partition removed so it was easier to go between the two cabins. The Amber Cove port was disappointing, I could skip this altogether. They enjoyed the beach at Grand Turk and the snorkeling at the port was very nice. Of course St Thomas and San Juan are always great ports. They all had a good time and that is what is important.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Amber Cove has a nice cruise center but it would be nice to see part of the island but taxi service is very expensive, especially when there are 6 people. Grand Turk has a nice large beach at the port, St Thomas is always beautiful but did not like Coki beach. Small and did not feel safe. Old San Juan is always great, the history and culture is an experience. Lots of walking!!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Cruise center nice but no beach at port. They have some shops at port. To get a taxi is expensive and a good walk to where they are allowed.

St. Thomas

Skyride is a must to Paradise Point. A little expensive and those that bought tickets through the cruise ship still had to stand in line which I found out on our last trip. The service at the restaurant was slow.

San Juan

Walking Old San Juan is such an experience there is so much to see. This is a must see but plan your time there and what you want to see before hand so you can see as much as possible.

Grand Turk

Very nice cruise center. Plenty of shopping, nice beach with snorkeling, lots of chairs beach side but could not find Jack's Shack.
