Day 1 - San Pedro / At Sea

Arrived about 2 pm, check in and boarding were efficient and straight forward. We had easily found our cabin (with balcony) by 2:30 or so and dropped our hand luggage.

Our steward stopped by and explained a few things (emergency drill, door tag to order breakfast in our cabin) then we joined our travel companions for lunch at the Horizon Court buffet. I would rate the first lunch as marginal with food that looked and tasted old. Once we had our food there was no place to sit, which is not a good thing. We finally found a table to share which was fine. After lunch we returned to our cabin and found our luggage waiting for us and did the unpacking.

Puerto Vallarta

Spent the morning walking the very nice Malecón. A warm sunny day in a pretty part of town.

Mazatlan

We both loved our time in Mazatlan! We had some fun shopping in small shops and even bought a ring from a beach vendor (not generally a good idea but we were having fun and he was very sweet). Did a quick stop on the historic old town area and had a poor lunch at a nice sidewalk restaurant with a wonderful view of pretty square.

The taxi back to the ship turned into an adventure of it’s own as our cab driver insisted we must see some things that would make us fall in love with Mazatlan. We narrowly avoided three fender benders as his tore up and down the steep narrow roads slowing only to wave and say “Hola” to his friends (I think he must know everyone in town). He did deliver on the magnificent vistas of the sea and we did fall in love with Mazatlan. Thankful to still be alive and grateful for the experience I gladly paid $10 for the $5 cab ride.

Cabo San Lucas

This is a short stop in Cabo - we went ashore at 9:30a and had to return no later than 1:30p. Walked the marina area (very pretty) and wondered into town enough to visit the Giggling Marlin bar, an throwback to “old Cabo”. We had good margaritas and a plate of Mexican snacks, all for $21 for four of us.
