The Island Princess is the smallest of the Princess ships we have sailed on and lacks some of the features present on the larger ships. Several people mentioned that during the recent overhaul of the ship close to 200 additional rooms were added which has resulted in overflow of the theater and the anytime dinning having difficulties seating passengers in a timely fashion. The service in the dinning room was the poorest we've experienced on any Princess cruise. Service was at times quite slow and they seemed to forget about you half way through the meal letting you sit for extended periods of time between the main and deserts.

The shows were, without a doubt the finest we've seen on any of our Princess cruises. With the exception of one isolated show every one of the other shows were better than anything we had seen before. In general, the meals were very good although I felt that the selection might have been somewhat smaller than prior cruises. But we could always find something interesting which we liked. The Horizon court was always clean with plenty of options available.

Lastly, one truly outstanding member of the staff that made a big difference was the cruise director, Simone Smith. Everyone raved about her interaction with the passengers. Without a doubt she is probably the greatest spokesperson for Princess they will ever find.
